grow

1 Timothy 4:7 says to "train yourself to be godly."  Trying harder isn't the key.  We need habits and rhythms in our daily lives to grow in Christ.  You play how you practice.  Jesus boiled the Christian life down to it's minimum in Matthew 22:37-40 when he said "love God and love people."  It's essential for the follower of Jesus to spend time everyday reading and meditating on scripture and talking with God (prayer).

Here are a couple of tools to get you started (right click and save as to download to computer):

  • Bible Reading Plan - 2 chapters in the morning, 2 chapters a night will get you through the New Testament twice in a year and the Old Testament once.
  • 1 Hour in Prayer - feel free to break this up.  Do 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night.  A great way to spend focused time with God in prayer.
